The Venice film festival that kicked off in 1932 is one of the oldest film fests.

The 79th Venice Film Festival kicked off on August 31 & will run up to September 10 at Venice Lido.

The upcoming films will fight for prestigious Golden Lion. The official awards will be announced on September 10 after all films gets premiered.

Here are the top films which grabbed most attention and received long standing ovations after their premier.

DONT WORRY DARLING

The movie revolves around the lives of Alice (Pugh) and Jack (Styles) who lives in ideal neighbourhood but suddenly have to deal with a frightening situation. It will release on September 23.

THE WHALE

The movie marks return of The Mummy fame Brendon Fraser. Film features an English teacher (Brendon) and Charlie, struggling with obesity and relationships with daughter. It will release on December 9.

THE BANSHEES OF INISHERIN

Directed by Martin Mcdonagh, the film received 15+ min standing ovation which narrates the relationship between Pádraic (Colin Farrell) and Colm (Brendan Gleeson) that suddenly takes a U-turn and escalates to the point of shocking consequences. It will release on October 21.

BONES AND ALL

The film is about a road trip shared by a man and a woman who also shares equally troubled history. Despite unconventional subject, it received 8+ minutes standing ovation and will release on November 23.

TAR

Tar stars Cate Blanchett who plays the role of the "Jinxed" woman. She appears as first chief conductor at a German orchestra. It received 6+ minutes of standing ovation and will be released on October 7.
